New NASEO Tool for States to Increase Power on the Grid through Optimization Solutions

To enable economic growth and meet the increasing electricity demand, existing electricity infrastructure such as the transmission system needs to become more efficient. Implementing advanced electric grid optimization solutions can increase the capacity, cost effectiveness, and reliability of existing transmission infrastructure to meet increasing load growth. A new NASEO Policy in a Box on Advanced Electric Grid Optimization Solutions helps State Energy Offices evaluate considerations and opportunities in supporting these technologies to meet state energy goals more rapidly and maximize the benefits of existing and new generation and transmission system infrastructure to power up the grid.

This new Policy in a Box is a repository for resources and analysis curated by NASEO about state policy initiatives that seek to increase adoption of advanced electric grid optimization solutions. The Policy in a Box provides an overview of different strategies for increasing the capacity and performance of existing transmission infrastructure. Within each of these categories, illustrative examples from states are included to highlight practical cases that could serve as models for replication for other states.
