AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf welcomes the signing of the Joint Engagement Agreement between the Republic of #EquatorialGuinea & the Republic of #Gabon on the implementation of the ICJ Judgment of 19 May 2025.
Signed today on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa, the Agreement was signed by H.E. Simeón Oyono Esono Angüe, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation & Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea, and Hon. Dieudonné Aba'a Owono, President of the Constitutional Court of Gabon.
The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Édouard Bizimana, Chairperson of the AU Executive Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burundi, H.E. Albert Shingiro, AU Special Envoy, & members of the diplomatic corps. The Agreement marks a significant milestone in the peaceful resolution of the territorial dispute, reinforcing dialogue, cooperation and good neighbourliness. "This Agreement reflects a shared commitment to dialogue, cooperation, good neighbourliness and the peaceful resolution of disputes in the spirit of African unity," said the Chairperson.
