Secretary of State Jena Griswold Encourages Coloradans to Receive Ballot Updates Using BallotTrax
Denver, September 15, 2026 - Colorado voters in all 64 counties can track their ballot for the 2026 General Election using BallotTrax, a program that was implemented statewide by Secretary of State Jena Griswold in 2020.
"BallotTrax allows voters to follow their ballot from the time it is sent to when it is counted," said Secretary Griswold. "Ballots will be sent to voters earlier this election, and I encourage all Colorado voters to take advantage of this easy-to-use service during the 2026 General Election in Colorado."
BallotTrax enables voters to receive notifications by phone, email, or text about the status of their mail ballot. There are currently more than 2.2 million Coloradans enrolled in the program, accounting for 57% of Colorado's active voters.
Messages about the status of voter ballots will begin after ballots are mailed by counties. Ballots will be mailed to military and overseas voters by Saturday, September 19, 2026 and to all other active voters between October 2 and October 9, 2026.

Important upcoming dates for the 2026 General Election in Colorado
October 2 - First day County Clerks may send mail ballots to active voters for the 2026 General Election
October 9 - Deadline for initial mail ballots to be sent to active voters for the 2026 General Election.
October 12 - The minimum number of required drop boxes must be open.
October 19 - The minimum number of required voter centers must be open.
October 26 - Deadline to register to vote and still be mailed a ballot.
After this date, register and then vote in person.
October 26 - Last suggested day to return ballots by mail.
October 27 - Voters who have not yet returned their mail ballots by this date should physically deliver their ballot within their signed return envelope to a ballot drop box or vote center or vote in person at a vote center.
November 3 - Election Day. Voters must submit their ballot or be in line to vote by 7:00 PM for their ballot to be counted.
Ballots cast by military and overseas voters must be sent no later than 7:00 PM on Election Day.
