WASHINGTON - ICE in Wilmington, North Carolina, arrested a criminal illegal alien from Mexico Jan. 2 who was convicted in 2010 of first-degree rape of a child, committing sex offenses as a parent, and taking indecent liberties with a child. Moises Guizar Alvarado was sentenced to up to 20 years and nine months in prison in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He served approximately 15 years and six months of his sentence and, upon his release from prison Jan. 2, ICE took him into custody for removal to Mexico.
"Guizar committed disgusting crimes," said ICE Director Todd M. Lyons. "He was convicted of eight counts of sex offense in a parental role, seven counts of first-degree sex offenses with a child, seven counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of first-degree rape of a child. When we say we're out there arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens, this is who we mean."
Guizar claims to have entered the U.S. illegally in approximately 1998. He was originally encountered by officers in the Henderson County Jail in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on June 27, 2009, following his arrest for sexually assaulting a child. In addition to being an illegal alien, Guizar's aggravated felony convictions make him removable from the United States.
He is currently in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
