Arrest in Homicide Case

GREENSBORO, NC (May 3, 2026) - Greensboro Police arrested and charged a 35-year-old man with first-degree murder and concealment of a death in a woman's homicide this weekend.

Djibril Sow is in the Guilford County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday (May 4), according to online booking records.

Officers responded to the 4600 block of Glencraig Avenue at approximately 3:15 a.m. Saturday after someone reported suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Officers encountered Sow in the backyard of a home where someone had been seen carrying things from the rear of the house to a car parked on the street.

Officers conducted a safety sweep of the residence and located the body of a woman later identified as Laquasia Shamecca Fields. She was 33.

GPD Homicide Unit detectives responded to begin a homicide investigation and later charged Sow (on May 2) with one count each of first-degree murder and concealment of a death, and served him with a number of outstanding, unrelated warrants.

Detectives determined that Sow and Fields knew each other. No additional suspects are being sought at this time.

Detectives also want to acknowledge and thank the community for alerting police to information that led to the quick apprehension of the suspect in this case.

This is the City's 10th homicide of 2026.

Court documents related to this case are accessible online through Guilford County eCourts.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
