The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, held a meeting on Friday with members of the national community residing within the jurisdiction of the Algerian Consulate General in New York, at the conclusion of his working visit to the United States of America.
Addressing the gathering, Chaib affirmed that the national diaspora "holds a central place in the State's priorities, highlighting the various institutional and political gains secured for the community by the country's senior authorities, which were recently reinforced by the increase in the number of MPs representing the community and the adoption of a new electoral redistricting that has assigned two seats in the People's National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) to the America constituency.
The interactive meeting also served as an opportunity to hear the concerns of Algerians living abroad and exchange views on their aspirations, while keeping them informed of the State's efforts to better address their needs, including in the cultural and educational spheres, as well as the ongoing modernization and digitalization of consular services, aimed at simplifying procedures and improving the quality of services provided to them.
At the close of the meeting, the Secretary of State reiterated his call to national community members, particularly the professionals and experts established in the United States of America, to actively engage in national development efforts, as a strategic partner and essential actor in the implementation of the national renewal processes.
