Spajić, Urquiza: Montenegro a reliable partner in the international fight against crime, should have its representative at Interpol Headquarters

Montenegro is a credible partner in the international fight against crime and, in order to further enhance cooperation with Interpol, should have its own representative at the organization's headquarters.

This was stated at the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Interpol Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza, held in Davos.

Interpol expressed its interest in Montenegro appointing a representative at its headquarters in Lyon, which would allow Montenegro to contribute more effectively to Interpol's mission and strengthen its integration within the global law-enforcement system.

Montenegro was described as a very important member of Interpol, with strong appreciation expressed for the activities undertaken by Prime Minister Spajić in advancing the country's development.

Our mission is to support your law-enforcement services, and I congratulate you on your effective work at the global level, said Urquiza.

Prime Minister Spajić stated that the rule of law and the fight against organized crime - alongside European integration and improving citizens' living standards - are among the key priorities of Montenegro's 44th Government, and that Montenegro is continuously working to meet benchmarks under Chapters 23 and 24 in the EU accession process.

It was emphasized that combating crime today is impossible without international cooperation and coordinated law-enforcement efforts, which are of crucial importance.

Urquiza noted that 196 countries cooperate through Interpol's platform, helping states identify and address security threats. He invited Prime Minister Spajić to visit Interpol's headquarters in Lyon to further present the organization's ongoing activities.
