SANFORD - Undergraduate students from Campbell University's Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences program recently had the opportunity to tour Pfizer's campus in Sanford, gaining firsthand insight into the pharmaceutical industry.

During the visit, students explored production areas where they observed how medicines are manufactured, tested and packaged. They walked through active workspaces to see the full process from raw materials to finished, patient ready products, offering a deeper understanding of how daily pharmaceutical operations function.

The experience allowed students to connect their classroom learning to real world applications. They were introduced to a wide range of career paths, including research and development, quality control and quality assurance, process validation, and manufacturing operations. Students also engaged with professionals who shared their career journeys, explaining how they transitioned from undergraduate education into industry roles and how they contribute to improving patient outcomes.

The tour also provided valuable opportunities for students to begin building professional connections that can support future internships and career opportunities.

"We understand the importance of building relationships with companies like Pfizer because it gives our students meaningful exposure to the industry and helps prepare them for their future careers," said Dr. Sarah Liu, associate professor of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences and faculty chaperone. "Experiences like this allow students to see how what they are learning in the classroom directly applies to real world pharmaceutical work."

By fostering partnerships with leading organizations and creating opportunities for experiential learning, CPHS continues to prepare students to succeed in a rapidly evolving healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape.
