Protect your home and wallet: Cease the grease this holiday season

Published on November 10, 2025

Fort Worth wants to help all customers Cease the Grease this November.

Greasy holiday foods can clog plumbing. Fort Worth Water urges residents to keep fats, oils and grease out of drains this season.

  • Let grease cool after cooking. Pour it into a heat-safe container. Store it until it solidifies. Then toss it in the trash. Do the same with baking grease from pans and trays.
  • Wipe greasy dishes with a paper towel before washing. Scrape leftover food into the trash, not the sink. Use sink strainers to catch food scraps.

Avoid extra spending around the holidays due to plumbing repairs by keeping greasy foods away from drains.
