Lewisville City Manager Claire Powell recently announced that Brett Bourgeois has been hired as the new City Engineer.
"Brett brings extensive experience and a proven track record of strong leadership that will be instrumental as we continue to advance our aggressive capital improvement program," City Manager Claire Powell said. "With major investments planned for streets, drainage, and utilities, Lewisville needs a leader who can effectively drive complex infrastructure projects while keeping people at the center of the work."
Bourgeois comes to Lewisville after spending the last four years working for the City of Denton. There he most recently served as the City Engineer, and the Deputy City Engineer before that. He also spent time as the Supervising Structures Project Manager for the Southwest Light Rail project in Minnesota.
"I've heard from many people how great this team is at the City of Lewisville and how welcoming they are," Bourgeois said. "I am looking forward to working with everyone and making a difference in the community."
Bourgeois earned his BS in Civil Engineering from California State University, Sacramento, and is finishing his Master's Degree in Public Administration at the University of North Texas. He is a Professional Engineer in Texas, California, Minnesota, and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Public Work Association (APWA), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and Tau Beta Pi (The Engineering Honor Society).
"I'm excited to get started in this great community," Bourgeois said. "I have a great group of people to work with, and an opportunity to challenge myself with a new adventure."
Bourgeois is married and has twin boys, age 11. When he's away from the office, he says he's looking forward to hitting the links again and going fishing in his spare time.
Bourgeois succeeds David Salmon, who is retiring after more than 20 years with the City of Lewisville.
