On Monday, First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, together with First Lady Armanda Begaj of Albania, First Lady Tamara Vučič of Serbia, Spouse of the President of Slovenia Aleš Musar, and Asta Radzevičienė, head of association Neišnešiotukas, visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Santaros Clinics.
The visit took place as part of the international summit "Growing Europe 2025," themed "Shaping Europe's Demographic Future by Investing in Families and Every New Life." The summit is initiated by the First Lady of Lithuania and her "Growing Lithuania" (Auginu Lietuvą) initiative, in cooperation with the Lithuanian Premature Baby Association Neišnešiotukas.
"The implementation of European newborn healthcare standards must become our shared commitment, because a person's entire future depends on the first moments of their life. We must ensure that every child - regardless of country, region, or circumstances - receives equally high-quality and safe care.
We can achieve this only by working closely with non-governmental organizations, the medical community, and government institutions. This model of partnership allows us to create sustainable solutions and provide real support to families. Every new life is not only a source of hope but also a responsibility we must all share," said First Lady Nausėdienė.
The second session of the "Growing Europe 2025" summit focused on newborn healthcare. During the session, speakers presented European newborn healthcare standards across different countries, highlighting the experiences of Portugal and Lithuania.
They demonstrated how these standards support high-quality care through active family involvement. The session concluded with a discussion on the importance of engaging parents in newborn care, promoting family well-being and emotional health, and ensuring work-life balance.
