Long Beach to Host Free Art and Music Festival at the Museum of Latin American Art and Gumbiner Park

Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Office of Climate Action & Sustainability, in partnership with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, will host the Community Values Art, Art Values Community event from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Museum of Latin American Art (628 Alamitos Ave.). This free event, which is part of the City's Neighbor-to-Neighbor program, will bring the community together for a day of interactive art and live music and focus on fostering connection and building communities that come together to engage locally.

"Here in Long Beach, we have a rich history in arts and culture, and we are committed to making that art more accessible to the community," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "With this Neighbor-to-Neighbor event, we are offering the community an opportunity to explore exhibits for free at the beloved Museum of Latin American Art, as well as providing a full line-up of family-friendly activities meant to foster connections between neighbors and inspire more opportunities for artists to collaborate in Long Beach."

During the festival, community members will enjoy free entry to the museum and free food offerings. The event will feature a variety of interactive art exhibits and activities, including dance and puppeteering performances, zine-making workshops and design-your-own tote bag crafts. There will also be a full schedule of live music and DJ performances, including DJ Kantuta, Juanita and Juan, 3LH and more. As part of the event, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will also host its Mobile Recess, a program that brings trucks loaded with recreational supplies and equipment to designated neighborhood streets to provide free recreational activities, across the street at Gumbiner Park (880 E. 7th St.) from 2 to 5 p.m. for families to enjoy.

Registration is required to attend and is available both online at lbcity.info/n2n and in-person at the event.

The City's Neighbor-to-Neighbor program is funded by the California Volunteers, Office of the Governor network and led by the City's Office of Climate Action and Sustainability. The program's mission is to foster connection and build communities that come together and address local needs, such as climate action. Through the program, the City hosts networking and community engagement events, including movies in the park and block parties, and climate action activities such as neighborhood tree plantings and workshops.
