WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) held question-and-answer sessions with Iowans in 35 counties during the month of August, as part of his annual 99 county meetings. Grassley met with a cross section of Iowans at local businesses, hospitals, schools and community organizations, learning about their priorities, listening to their concerns and answering their questions on any subject.
Conversations throughout the month centered on the Republican-led tax cuts for working families and topics such as the Farm Bill, Medicaid, trade, rural health care, biofuels, artificial intelligence, childcare, mental health and more.
"The best parts of my job happen at home, where I can hear from Iowans firsthand and witness their innovation. You can't have representative government without dialogue between elected officials and the people we represent. That's why, for over four decades, I've prioritized meeting face-to-face with Iowans in every corner of our state," Grassley said. "My 99 county meetings give me valuable insight into Iowans' daily lives and allows me to more effectively represent them at the policymaking tables in Washington."
This is Grassley's 45th straight year holding Q&As in each of Iowa's 99 counties. Grassley has held at least one question-and-answer session in every county, every year since he was first elected to serve in the U.S. Senate. He takes questions on any subject. Iowans set the agenda.
