City of St. Petersburg's Library System Hosting Summer Reading Kickoff Event

May 18, 2026 - Readers of all ages are invited to join the St. Petersburg Library System at the Summer Reading Kickoff Event on Saturday, May 30, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the President Barack Obama Main Library. This event is the start of a free summer learning program titled Unearth a Story, a season of discovery, imagination, and exploration. The program takes place from May 30 through August 1 and offers engaging opportunities for readers and learners of all ages.

At the event, participants can pick up a Summer Programming Guide and take-home activities, compete in reading challenges, win prizes, and more. The Summer Programming Guide includes information on free programming, guest presenters, reading challenges and prizes for all ages.

Unearth a Story invites readers to dig deeper into the worlds found within books.
