Following more than two years of all-fees-waived adoptions for any animal at Tulsa Animal Services (TAS) - the shelter, in line with City ordinances, will resume modest adoption fees for select animals beginning this month while keeping the adoption fees free for large dogs.
The fee structure is as follows:
All adoptions continue to include spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchipping.
"Tulsa Animal Services remains committed to making adoption attainable while prioritizing outcomes for animals most at risk," said Sherri Carrier, Shelter Director. "Keeping adoption fees waived for dogs over 50 pounds helps remove barriers for animals that often need the most time and support to find homes."
The update reflects a shared responsibility approach to supporting animal care while keeping adoption accessible for the community. Modest adoption fees help offset the cost of medical care, daily shelter operations, and enrichment provided by shelter staff and volunteers.
The only exception for the resumption of modest adoption fees is for large dogs who are the hardest to get adopted - their adoptions will remain free.
As background, adoption remains one of the most affordable and impactful ways to save a life in Tulsa. Community members are encouraged to visit the shelter, meet available animals, and learn more about adoption options.
