PPB Disrupts Illegal Street Takeover; Makes Arrests, Seizes Firearm and Vehicles

Members of the Portland Police Bureau addressed multiple street takeover events in North Portland on April 4, 2026, making arrests, issuing citations and seizing vehicles.

In the evening hours of April 4, 2026, Portland Police Officers assigned to North Precinct addressed multiple street takeover events in North Portland, including in the area of the 9900 Block of North Whitaker Road as well as Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast Broadway Street. Using officers from other precincts and units as well as the Air Support Unit, officers responded in an attempt to interdict and stop the dangerous behavior.

Members of the Air Support Unit located a gathering of hundreds of individuals who were either occupying intersections and performing dangerous stunts or watching the events. Officers responded and with the assistance of the Air Support Unit, made arrests and seized vehicles involved. During the incident, Air Support witnessed a vehicle performing dangerous stunts and striking a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle, Ciana Hughes, 21, was cited for Reckless Driving. Her vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was seized. The victim was not located.

At one point during the mission, officers located a severely injured man who had been assaulted by participants of the illegal street takeover. Officers rendered aid and assisted in getting him medical attention.

Also arrested were:

Kobe Thompson-Perez, 18. He was charged with Reckless Endangerment (11 Counts), Interfering with a Peace Officer and Escape in the Third Degree. His vehicle, a 1998 Lexus, was seized.

Amarius Ackridge, 20. He was charged with Attempted to Elude a Police Officer (on foot), Attempted to Elude a Police Officer (vehicle), Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Alternate Identification on Firearm. His vehicle, a Chevy Camaro, was seized and a firearm was seized.

Jonathon Mount, 22, Reckless Endangering (2 Counts), Careless Driving, Reckless Driving and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. His vehicle, an Infiniti G35, was seized.

Kamil Tez, 25, Unlawful Street Takeover and Unlawful Staging Street Takeover.

Marquez Quintero, 20, Attempting to Elude Police Officer with a Motor Vehicle and Reckless Driving. His vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was seized.

In total, eight vehicles were seized and an additional eight citations were issued.

Illegal street takeovers pose serious risks to participants, spectators, and the surrounding community, often leading to crashes, injuries, and the presence of weapons. PPB remains committed to proactive enforcement to deter this dangerous behavior, maintain public safety, and prevent these gatherings from escalating into more serious incidents.
