The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 309 in Canton and Simsbury. This project is scheduled to occur on Thursday, July 9 and be completed on Friday, July 31, 2026. The project 0174-0488CN "A" consists of milling and resurfacing a 4.74-mile segment of Route 309 in Canton and Simsbury from Route 179 (Cherry Brook Road) to Route 167. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Black and Boucher on Thursday, July 9, 2026, to Friday, July 17, 2026. The resurfacing segment of this project by Palmer Paving Co. is anticipated to begin on Monday, July 20, 2026 to Friday, July 31, 2026.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of Route 309 from Route 179 (Cherry Brook Road) to Route 167 in Canton and Simsbury. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
