Own a Piece of History: NYC DOT and DCAS to Auction Champions Way Street Sign From Knicks Championship Parade

NEW YORK - New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Mike Flynn and New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Commissioner Yume Kitasei today announced that the City will auction an authentic Champions Way street sign that hung on Broadway during the ticker-tape parade celebrating the 2026 NBA champion New York Knicks.

The blue-and-orange sign is one of just 30 installed along the Canyon of Heroes for the championship celebration and will be auctioned through the City's online surplus auction website. Bidding will begin at $100, with all proceeds benefiting the City of New York.

"The Knicks brought home a championship after a 53-year drought and now is your chance to own a unique piece of the festivities," said NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn. "NYC DOT was proud to join the celebration and bring an extra touch of civic pride to the Canyon of Heroes during this special day in the history of our city."

"The Knicks championship celebration was a once-in-a-generation moment for New York City, and these commemorative street signs capture the excitement, pride and history of that unforgettable day," said DCAS Commissioner Yume Kitasei. "Through DCAS' surplus property auctions, we're thrilled to give fans the rare opportunity to own an authentic piece of New York City and Knicks history."

The street sign was handcrafted at NYC DOT's Sign Shop in Maspeth, Queens, where crews produce more than 70,000 street signs each year and maintain more than 1 million street signs across the five boroughs. Made of durable aluminum, the sign measures 36 inches by 9 inches.

NYC DOT created the custom Champions Way signs to bring the spirit of the Knicks' championship to the city streets during the ticker-tape parade and in the weeks that followed. The agency installed 30 signs, with two placed at each intersection along the famed parade route.

Bidding will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29 and close at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12. The listing is available on the City's online surplus auction website.

DCAS manages the sale of surplus City property. When City property is no longer needed for government use, DCAS auctions it to the public to generate revenue for the City. Auctions regularly feature vehicles, equipment, office furniture, real estate and even the occasional Staten Island Ferry.
