Landslide repairs start soon on SR 112 near Clallam Bay

Plan for more than two months of around-the-clock alternating traffic

CLALLAM BAY - Beginning Monday, Aug. 17, travelers should prepare for construction on State Route 112 between Clallam Bay and Sekiu at milepost 15.8 to repair landslide damage.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will spend more than two months repairing the slope and highway. Work includes removing slide debris, installing a new drainage trench, stabilizing the hillside and paving the roadway.

What to expect

When construction begins, temporary traffic lights will alternate travelers one direction at a time. The lights will remain in place around the clock until the project is complete. During that time, people are encouraged to add more travel time to their trips to adjust for delays.

Crews expect to finish all work by the end of October.

Landslide history
Crews completed a landslide repair in the same area in early 2022. During that project, crews observed a second slide. A December 2022 storm triggered additional debris to move and blocked drainage under the roadway, prompting the current repairs.
