On June 9th 2026, around 6:30am, Spokane police officers responded to the 600 block of East Sanson Ave regarding a house fire. Multiple victims, including the suspect's child, were sleeping in the home and awoke to the house being on fire. Thankfully, they were able to safely evacuate through a window. The fire spread rapidly and caught a neighbor's attached garage on fire.

After Spokane Fire Department firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, Fire Investigators arrived and notified officers the fire appeared to be intentionally set.

Officers spoke with victims and witnesses, as well as collected video evidence. One of the officers had previous knowledge that one of the victims living at the location was the protected party on a Domestic Violence Order of Protection. Through the investigation, with the help of video surveillance, the suspect was identified as being the respondent for the Domestic Violence Order of Protection, meaning he was prohibited from being within 1000 feet of the location.

On July 7th 2026, SPD's Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with help from the Air Support Unit (ASU), and K9, located and arrested Romello D. Abram (35) for one count of First Degree Arson-DV, one count of First Degree Arson-Damage Dwelling, one count of Order Violation (gross misdemeanor), and one count of Harassment-DV (gross misdemeanor).

If you or someone you know is a victim of Domestic Violence and need help, contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233 or the YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline at 509-326-CALL.
