On the evening of 23 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania summoned the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Russian Federation and handed a diplomatic note, expressing a strong protest over the violation of Lithuanian airspace.x
The competent authorities of the Republic of Lithuania recorded that announced that today, on 23 October, at around 6 p.m., Russian military aircraft SU-30 and IL-78 entered Lithuanian territory near Kybartai, approximately 700 metres deep, and remained in the country's airspace for 18 seconds.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses a strong protest and demands that the Russian Federation immediately provide an explanation for the violation of Lithuanian airspace and take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed NATO and its European Union partners, as well as the North Atlantic Council (NAC), about the incident through diplomatic channels.
