U.S. Department of Energy Releases 2025 U.S. Energy and Employment Report

The energy sector employs 8.5 million workers as of 2024, accounting for 5.4 percent of all jobs in the country, according to the latest release of U.S. Department of Energy's U.S. Energy and Employment Report. Energy sector jobs exist in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Texas, California, and Michigan have the highest energy employment, and Wyoming, North Dakota, and West Virginia are home to the most energy workers on a per capita basis.
