BA ranks nationally for ‘Best Places to Retire’ again

Broken Arrow is one of the 'Best Places to Retire' in 2026-2027, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The publication ranked Broken Arrow second in Oklahoma and 55th nationally.

The Report cites the city's low cost of living, seasonal temperatures, and travel times to local points of interest.

Beyond those rankings, Broken Arrow retirees also enjoy a vibrant community.

Of the estimated 118,039 people living in Broken Arrow, 23 percent are between the ages of 45 and 64, and 17 percent are over 65.

One way Broken Arrow retirees stay active in the community is by getting involved with the Broken Arrow Seniors organization.

Since 1988, Broken Arrow Seniors, 1800 S. Main St., has offered a welcoming environment for social enrichment for people 55 and older. It provides opportunities to stay physically active and socially engaged.

Broken Arrow residents can join for $80 per year, and non-residents for $105 per year.

It offers more than 115 activities each week, serves nearly 4,000 members, and provides meals and complimentary transportation within a limited-service area. For more transportation information, call 918-259-8377.

Broken Arrow is also continuing to improve its efforts to serve its senior residents by building on its existing support for retirees.

In April 2026, Broken Arrow voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 4 of the 2026 General Obligation Bond package, which includes $18 million to expand and renovate the Broken Arrow Seniors facility.

The U.S. News & World Report's 'Best Places to Retire' ranking is the fifth time in recent years the esteemed national publication has ranked the City of Broken Arrow. In previous rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Broken Arrow as the Best Place to Live in Oklahoma, the 12th Best Place to Live in the U.S., and the 6th Best Medium-Sized City in the U.S. It is the second time the city has made the Best Place to Retire ranking, reinforcing its 2026-2027 recognition.
