Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg Pan Qingjiang Engages with Beneficiaries at University of Johannesburg

On March 27, 2026, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg, attended a scholarship award ceremony for outstanding students at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). Prof. Refilwe Phaswana-Mafuya, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UJ, Prof. Sarah Gravett, Senior Director of the Division for Global Engagement, along with over twenty UJ faculty members and students, were present.

In his speech, Mr. Pan spoke highly of the partnership between the Consulate General and UJ in recent years in promoting exchanges between Chinese and South African youth. He also briefed the developments of China, China-South Africa and China-Africa relations, encouraging the young students to strive for excellence, serve the country and society, and become envoys of China-South Africa and China-Africa friendship, contributing to the building of a high-level community with a shared future in the new era between the two sides.

Prof. Refilwe Phaswana-Mafuya, Prof. Sarah Gravett and student representatives expressed their gratitude to the Consulate General for its generous support, stating that they would continue to strengthen communication and spare no effort in jointly promoting the bilateral friendship and cooperation.
