ITOCHU Announces Establishment of Global Tech Center to Drive AIX by Strengthening In-house CapabilitiesNew

ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter "ITOCHU") announced today the establishment of the Global Tech Center (hereinafter "GTC"). GTC aims to drive AI transformation (AIX) by strengthening in-house capabilities at overseas Group companies. This initiative will be carried out through CISD (ASIA) CO., LTD. (headquartered in Hong Kong; Shinya Tominaga, President and Chief Executive Officer; hereinafter "CISD"), a consolidated subsidiary that supports IT and digital initiatives outside Japan.
In conjunction with the establishment of GTC, ITOCHU formed a partnership with FPT Software Company Limited (headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam; Pham Minh Tuan, CEO; hereinafter "FPT"), a leading IT group in Vietnam. By leveraging FPT's diverse expertise and global talent, the ITOCHU Group will take the lead in planning, developing, and implementing advanced technology initiatives, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and data utilization.

In recent years, the business environment in which companies operate has changed rapidly, and alongside digital transformation (DX) initiatives, AI-driven transformation of business processes and operations has grown in importance. In this environment, to consistently achieve results by leveraging AI and data, we need to do more than just rely on external resources; we need to establish a framework that allows for agile implementation of initiatives while accumulating knowledge and expertise within the corporate group.

ITOCHU takes a pragmatic approach to AIX (AI transformation), aiming to promote increasingly sophisticated use of AI across the ITOCHU Group while sustainably enhancing corporate value*1. In overseas markets, ITOCHU established CISD in 1989, and has since worked with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC), which jointly owns CISD with ITOCHU, to help overseas Group companies utilize IT and digital technologies. ITOCHU has also worked with FPT on ERP implementation (enterprise resource planning) for many years, and in recent years this collaboration has expanded into advanced fields, including AI and data utilization.

GTC is a virtual organization aimed at bringing capabilities in-house in an agile and flexible manner. GTC will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a diverse range of application systems for overseas Group companies, ranging from mission-critical systems to AI agents*2. It will also centralize development resources and consolidate expertise related to DX and AIX implementation. A key feature of GTC is that it operates within a "new in-house development framework" under which the ITOCHU Group will continue to utilize the expertise of external partners, including FPT, while also accumulating its own expertise in planning, requirements design/specification, and implementation within the Group. Through GTC's activities, the Group will consistently and effectively support the transformation of business processes and operations at overseas Group companies, using the knowledge gained to drive AIX implementation across the entire Group.

Under its management policy, "The Brand-new Deal: Profit opportunities are shifting downstream," ITOCHU will maximize the use of resources within the Group to enhance corporate value through digital initiatives in line with the "earn, cut, and prevent" approach. Going forward, ITOCHU will continue to transform its business portfolio and business models by integrating management strategy with digital technologies, to strengthen its competitiveness as a global company and achieve sustainable enhancement of corporate value.
