The search for Marquette's next vice president for mission and ministry has been extended to identify the most qualified and fitting candidate for this vital leadership position, President Kimo Ah Yun announced today.
The search committee for the next vice president for mission and ministry recently brought finalists to campus; the favored candidate ultimately declined to move forward in the process for personal reasons.
"I want to thank Dr. Conor Kelly and the entire search committee for their great work," President Ah Yun said. "Ultimately, it is critical to who we are as a Catholic, Jesuit university that we identify the best individual to lead the Office of Mission and Ministry. I have great faith that the committee will continue to recruit the best candidates for this important role."
Rev. Jim Pribek, S.J., will continue to serve as acting vice president for mission and ministry while the search continues. He will also begin serving as superior of the Marquette Jesuit Community starting July 31.
Kelly has decided to step away from the committee due to professional responsibilities. Rev. Joe Simmons, S.J., who has been serving on the committee, will now serve as its chair. All other committee members will remain.
The position will be re-posted in the coming weeks. The position description is available online.
The committee will vet candidates; semi-finalists will be interviewed virtually by the committee and the president. Finalist(s) will visit campus to meet with key stakeholders.
