Public apology to artists – Coburg Council Chambers artwork damage

Merri-bek City Council publicly apologises to artists Dr Geoff Hogg and Xiaoping Zhou, for the damage that was caused to their artwork that features on the ceiling of the Council Chambers in Coburg.
Over several years, Council has installed infrastructure to enable the use of technology in the Chambers and did this without consulting the artists.
We pride ourselves on our respect for artists and are deeply sorry that this has occurred, harming the integrity of the artwork and the artists.
Over the coming months Council will undertake a conservation project to restore the artwork.
