Updated Memorandum of Understanding between FRA and the European Data Protection Supervisor signed

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) have signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding to increase their cooperation on protecting personal data.

The Memorandum of Understanding builds on earlier exchanges and memoranda of understanding. It provides the basis for enhanced cooperation between FRA and the EDPS on data protection issues, and their respective roles under the EU's AI Act.

It aims to further encourage and improve their cooperation through annual meetings, regular information exchange and collaborative research on areas of mutual interest.

Designated contact points at FRA and the EDPS, and regular implementation plans will help guide the cooperation.

The first Memorandum was signed in 2017 and then revised in 2020.
