Congressman Cohen Receives an “A” from the Defend the Vote Action Fund

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Defend The Vote Action Fund has given him an "A," the top score possible, on its legislative scorecard for his support for bills that will crack down on corruption and protect the voice and vote of Tennesseans.

The 2026 Legislative Scorecard for the 119th Congress evaluates every Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate based on their support for legislation that reduces the influence of corruption in our political system. It also considers support for and opposition to legislation that would weaken democratic institutions, undermine election integrity, restrict voting rights, or diminish public accountability.

"The only way we are going to have a government that serves the people is if we crack down on the corruption that is driving up costs by putting billionaire donors and corporate lobbyists ahead of everyone else," DTV Action Fund Executive Director Brian Lemek said. "Representative Cohen's record paints a clear picture that shows he is stepping up in this moment. It is more important than ever that our elected representatives side with regular people and reform this broken, corrupt system that is failing us all."

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I am pleased to see my efforts to promote democracy and fight corruption recognized this way. We are living in perilous times and the right to vote is under attack in too many places, including in Tennessee, as we saw earlier this year with the Republican gerrymander of my district. I appreciate Defend the Vote Action Fund for drawing attention to these issues."
