Leader Schumer Statement On The Trump Administration Continuing To Push Radical Education Policy With A Change To Schools' Tax-Exempt Status

New York, N.Y.- Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after the Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service proposed regulations to strip federal tax-exempt status from educational institutions that ensure every child has access to a good education.

"Rather than work to make life affordable for American families, Trump continues his pursuit of grievances, forcing his extremist agenda on the American people.

"Trump doesn't get it. Instead of attacking our schools he should be building them up and creating a better education for our students.

"Since the beginning of his term, Trump has led a full-fledged assault on American education: defunding it, radicalizing its agenda, and dismantling it.

"Senate Democrats will continue to fight to ensure that every child has access to a good education and that America continues be a land of opportunity for all."
