Rep. Sewell Votes Against Partisan Republican Spending Bill

Washington D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement after voting against House Republicans' partisan spending bill:

"Despite controlling the House, Senate, and White House, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have once again failed to do their job and fund the government. The American people deserve better.

"Instead of spending time working on a budget to fund critical healthcare programs, veterans' benefits, education and employment training, and disaster relief, Republicans chose to spend their time passing President Trump's Big Ugly Bill which rips away health care from millions of Americans in order to give tax breaks to billionaires.

"I voted no on Republicans' partisan spending bill because I will not rubber-stamp their assault on our health care system. I call on Republicans to keep the government open and work with Democrats to lower costs and protect the health care of the American people."
