Pomona, Calif. - Pomona Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to promote safe riding practices with free, hands-on motorcycle rider trainings led by local law enforcement.
Grant funds will pay for a series of free motorcycle safety classes that will allow riders to practice braking, turning, steering, entering traffic and other skills that help avoid crashes and improve rider safety.
"Motorcycle safety starts long before anyone gets on the road," OTS Director Stephanie Dougherty said. "By investing in these safety classes, we're helping motorcycle riders build the skills and awareness they need to ride responsibly and confidently and helping to strengthen safety for both riders and everyone sharing the road."
The grant program runs through September 2027.
Classes will be available starting December. To register for a free training class, watch for the registration information on our social media platforms @pomonapd.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
