Norton Rose Fulbright advises PowerTransitions, a portfolio company of Partners Group, in acquisition and financing of Roseton Generating Facility

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright represented PowerTransitions, an independent power producer focused on redeveloping legacy facilities, in its acquisition and related financing of the Roseton Generating Facility in Newburgh, New York, from a subsidiary of Castleton Commodities International. PowerTransitions is a portfolio company of Partners Group, one of the largest firms in the global private markets industry. The acquisition was recently announced.

The Roseton Generating Facility is a dual-fuel, natural gas-fired power plant with a 1,242 MW capacity that has supplied electricity since 1974. The facility's scale and grid infrastructure make it well-positioned for redevelopment into a multi-use energy campus, including new energy storage systems that could further support reliability in the region.

"This deal builds on the company's recent New York investments and positions it to capitalize on growing demand for power and energy infrastructure across the region," said Douglas Fried, who co-led Norton Rose Fulbright's representation.

Norton Rose Fulbright also represented Partners Group and PowerTransitions in the acquisition of a portfolio of five power plants and related pipeline infrastructure serving multiple counties in New York which closed in July. Together, these transactions contribute to PowerTransitions' generation capacity of approximately 1.8 GW across eight power stations in the PJM, NYISO and ISO-NE markets.
