Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration set for Oct. 12, 2025

The City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to attend the Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area (579 McCollister Blvd).

Indigenous Peoples' Day is a day to recognize the indigenous people of our community and beyond, and celebrate the journey they have been through and are still going through each day.

The Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration will include food by Chef Anthony Warrior, performances by the Eagle Feather Singers and Dancers, story teller Jorge Peña, and more. Most events are scheduled to take place outdoors, with food being served inside the Park Lodge.

This free event is co-hosted by the City's Office of Human Rights and Great Plains Action Society.
