Commissioners announce winners
of the third annual Snowplow Naming Contest
FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is excited to announce that the winners of the third annual Snowplow Naming Contest are Alyssa Bodnar of Swimming River Elementary School, Tinton Falls, and Savannah Miller of Memorial School, Union Beach.
Alyssa's winning plow name is "Snow Crusher," and Savannah's winning plow name is "The Frost Responder."
"My fellow Commissioners and I congratulate Alyssa and Savannah on their winning submissions to our Snowplow Naming Contest," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. "In addition to the creative names they came up with for our plows, each student also wrote about the ways people can stay safe during a snowstorm."
Commissioner Director Arnone made a surprise visit to both schools to honor the winning students and unveil the snowplows to them, which feature the winning name and school. Each student also received a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners.
"I want to thank all of the students, teachers, and school districts throughout Monmouth County for their participation in the 2025 contest," said Commissioner Director Arnone. "When plows come around this winter, make sure to keep an eye out on the roads for 'Snow Crusher' and 'The Frost Responder.'"
