Sanders Declares September 21st as Day of Prayer and Reflection for Charlie Kirk

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME - GREETINGS:

WHEREAS: Charlie Kirk was one of America's leading conservative activists and free speech advocates, founding Turning Point USA and bringing a new generation of young people into the conservative movement;

WHEREAS: Kirk was the loving husband of Erika and father to two young children, as well as a devout Christian who spread his faith. He went to hundreds of college campuses not looking for controversy but for lost souls who needed spiritual truth. By sharing his faith he gave people hope. He helped bring light to a dark world and it's our duty to not let that light go out;

WHEREAS: Kirk was assassinated in a shocking, hateful act by a political opponent while sharing his vision for America at Utah Valley University, and his murder has brought grief to supporters and friends across the country;

WHEREAS: Americans stunned by Charlie Kirk's murder have raised vigils and memorials across the country, standing together in sorrow and prayer to give thanks to him for his impact on the United States; and

WHEREAS: Kirk will be laid to rest on Sunday, September 21st, at a funeral ceremony that will include some of the greatest leaders in the United States, including President Donald J. Trump.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, in tribute to the memory of Charlie Kirk and as an expression of public sorrow, do hereby proclaim Sunday, September 21st, as

"A DAY OF PRAYER AND REFLECTION FOR CHARLIE KIRK"

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 21st day of September, in the year of our Lord 2025.
