Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., today released their latest report monitoring the consequences of Donald Trump and Republicans' health care agenda, with a focus on the fallout of the Republican Big Ugly Bill.
After Trump and Republicans gutted more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in July 2025, a growing number of health care clinics are closing, workers are being laid off, patients are losing insurance coverage, and states are scrambling to fill budget gaps.
"America's health care system continues to take body blows thanks to Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress," Wyden said. "As Republicans pat themselves on the back for ramming through their Big Ugly Bill to fund an ICE surge and tax breaks for their billionaire buddies, health care providers and American families across our country are feeling the strain from these health care cuts."
"Americans are losing health care coverage, costs are going up, and hospitals are closing around the country in the devastating wake of President Trump's Big Ugly Bill," Pallone said. "Republicans sold out hardworking American families, took away their health care, and jacked up costs all so they could give giant tax breaks to their billionaire friends and big corporations."
While Republicans gaslight Americans about the harms brought by their draconian cuts, this January health care report highlighted that new moms, kids, rural communities, people with disabilities, safety-net providers, and working families are being left behind.
Wyden and Pallone have led the opposition to Donald Trump and Republicans' health care cuts. They released a report outlining the impact of Republican health care policies on Americans' health care from the time of enactment of the Big Ugly Bill through the end of December 2025. Earlier this year, Wyden and Pallone demanded the Trump administration restore key measures of childhood health and well-being.
