Westfield Memorial Hospital announces the addition of state-of-the-art MRI Services

AHN Westfield Memorial Hospital will now offer state-of-the-art MRI services to its patients, thanks to a new mobile MRI unit that will be at the hospital every Tuesday and Saturday. The hospital held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony today in the vestibule of the new mobile MRI unit to launch the program.

The MRI coach, containing a 1.5 Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Viato.Mobile, is located on a specially built platform on the east side of the hospital, adjacent to the ambulance entrance of the hospital. It features two separate entrances, offering protection and security for both patients and staff. A soft-seal oversized airbag system seals the unit to the hospital so that the patient is never exposed to outside weather.

The transportable mobile MRI unit received FDA clearance in late 2023 to bring advanced, AI-powered imaging directly to hospitals and remote areas, improving access for patients needing urgent or routine scans by reducing travel and offering high-quality diagnostics in a flexible, space-saving format. This mobile unit provides features like AI-driven scan acceleration (Deep Resolve) and personalized exams (BioMatrix Technology), allowing for on-site or long-term deployment where fixed MRI rooms aren't feasible.

The mobile MRI is part of a program created by Allegheny Health Network, which contracts services with Insight Rayus Radiology at several different sites on the AHN footprint.

"Allegheny Health Network has invested over $1 million to bring MRI services to Westfield Memorial Hospital, further enhancing its commitment to provide care to its patients close to home," said WMH President, Chris Clark, DO. "This investment goes hand in hand with WMH's recent designation as a Rural Emergency Hospital and further illustrates how this designation will benefit the community."

The hospital will begin performing MRI scans this week.
