ThredUp Launches Employee Closet Clean Out Program; Welcomes Rothy’s as Partner

April 13, 2026 (Oakland, CA. and San Francisco, CA) - ThredUp (NASDAQ: TDUP, LTSE: TDUP), one of the largest online resale platforms for apparel, shoes, and accessories, today announced the launch of its Employee Closet Clean Out Program, a new extension of its Resale-as-a-Service® (RaaS®) platform. Rothy's, the San Francisco brand redefining what it means to be both beautifully made and responsibly built, is one of the first partners to roll out the program to its workforce.

This offering extends ThredUp's RaaS platform, which currently powers resale solutions for more than 50 of the world's leading brands including J.Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, and Madewell. While RaaS has traditionally focused on consumer-facing marketplaces and clean-out programs, this new initiative allows brands to deepen their commitment to resale, and engage their own employees in the circular economy.

"ThredUp has created a universal recommerce layer to help retailers offer impactful circularity initiatives to their customers and teams," said Alon Rotem, Chief Strategy Officer at ThredUp. "Rothy's innovative application of our RaaS platform showcases how retailers can use resale to inspire their workforce and achieve internal sustainability and circularity goals."

This employee perk program drives high engagement with a no-cost, turnkey solution that requires minimal ongoing effort, empowers employees to actively participate in circular initiatives, and provides measurable impact reporting to support ESG goals and brand storytelling.

"Rothy's has always been about rethinking how things are made and how they're used. Bringing resale to our team through ThredUp is a natural extension of that mindset, making circularity more accessible, more immediate, and part of the culture we're building," said Anna Doré, VP of Brand & Communications at Rothy's.

How the Rothy's Employee Program Works

By providing physical Clean Out Kits to Rothy's San Francisco home office, along with a dedicated online landing page for its nationwide workforce, the partnership ensures a seamless experience for all employees. Employees can simply generate a prepaid shipping label via their unique Rothy's x ThredUp landing page, fill any box with gently-worn apparel and accessories from any brand, and ship it to ThredUp for free. Once their items sell, employees receive a standard payout that can be used to refresh their wardrobe on ThredUp.com or cashed out directly.
