Harlem Avenue full closure in Riverside

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by BNSF to a railroad crossing on Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) between Windsor and Stanley avenues, in Riverside, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.

A detour will direct the public to Ogden Avenue (U.S. 34), First Street (Illinois 171) and Roosevelt Road (Illinois 38). The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
