Disclosure of the Police Officers’ Names Involved in the August 12, 2025 Shooting Incident in Keene, New Hampshire

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces the identity of the police officers who discharged firearms during a shooting incident on the evening of August 12, 2025, in Keene, New Hampshire that resulted in the shooting death of David Ward (age 57).

The five New Hampshire State Police ("NHSP") officers who discharged their weapons have been identified as Sergeant Nicholas Levesque (13 years of service with NHSP), Sergeant Noah Sanctuary (14 years of service with NHSP), Sergeant Aramus Caraballo (10 years of service with NHSP), Trooper Matthew Dushame (6 years of service with NHSP), and Trooper Jacob Hunt (3 years of service with NHSP).

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

It is anticipated that a report regarding the incident and whether the officer's use of deadly force was justified will be released once the investigation is complete. No further updates are expected until that report is released.
