Cameron clubs offering student-grown items at Lawton Farmers Market during April

Spring is here, and two Cameron University student organizations are offering "Aggie-grown" garden plants and houseplants - and a chance to win a side of beef - at the Lawton Farmers Market during April.

The CU Biology Club will offer a variety of houseplants on April 4 at the market, which is located at 77 Forth St. near downtown Lawton. Pothos, philodendron, hoya, dracaena, succulents, sansevieria, and other varieties can be purchased. Some will be available in hand-painted pots donated by Dr. Dana Lee, an associate professor at the university.

The CU Aggie Club will offer vegetable plants - including bell peppers, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, several tomato varieties - for sale at the market on April 11, 18 and 25. These are perfect for starting a spring garden.

During April, the Aggie Club is also offering a chance to win a side of premium beef. Only 100 tickets per side will be sold (at $50 each) for the Black Angus beef, which is non-GMO, antibiotic free and raised by the club. Pork lovers can also inquire about how to order the club's quality Black and Gold-brand pork.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to support our Aggie and Biology clubs," said Dr. Matt Van Sant, chair of the Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Sciences. "We encourage you to stop by, support our hardworking students, and help them continue to make a difference in our community."

All proceeds go to support departmental activities.
