Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is wishing everyone in American Samoa a merry Christmas:
"The beautiful Christmas season is full of family time, gift-giving, delicious food, and cheerful decorations. Most of all, we remember it is a celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, signifying joy, hope, and peace.
"Many of our people have loved ones far away due to military service, collegiate studies, or careers in the states. May God especially bless and each of them and these families, with 'many happy returns' to our island home. This Christmas, we keep our Toa o Samoa especially in our prayers - thank you to each one for your service and sacrifice! Just this week, Congress sent next year's 3.8 percent pay raise for our military to the President to be signed into law, as part of a busy December. We look forward together to all the possibilities for a wonderful new year.
"May each of us celebrate this special season with joyful and charitable hearts. Have a Merry Christmas!"
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. - Luke 2:10-11
