Our next meeting could be a peace march on 23 October

Our next meeting could be a peace march on 23 October, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Saturday in Budapest.

In the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena, Mr Orbán said there are so many attending the event of the Digital Civic Circles that they are slowly outgrowing all conference halls and sports arenas because many who wanted to come had to be turned away.

In continuation, he said with every passing day "we are hundreds and thousands more," and next time we will only fit under the Lord's free sky; "therefore, our next meeting could be another peace march, say, on 23 October."

The Prime Minister welcomed the attendees and organisers of the event. He said "we're alive and kicking, we're here and ready, and as far as I can see, we're full of vitality."

He said at the meeting he saw several people who stood their ground at the time of the 2006 cavalry and rubber bullet attack, but also a great many young people who do not want to find themselves in a situation like their parents who - "after the Gyurcsány, IMF and foreign currency loan fiasco" - had to start everything from scratch again.

He also spoke about the fact that people in villages, too, could count on them, "after all, blood is thicker than water," but he saw plenty of people from Budapest as well. He said: "We will never give up on Budapest. We will never resign ourselves to the state of affairs that the liberals and Tisza are turning the nation's capital into a migrant-cuddling drugs nest, an LGBTQ paradise. No, no and no."

Mr Orbán further said a single epochal change is enough in a generation's life.

A change of epoch, new chapters tend to cause chaos and adversity more than anything else. However, it is not for us to decide on the frequency of major changes because ever since the Battle of Mohács we have not been big and strong enough for that, he observed.

He highlighted: whether we like it or not, for centuries, the life, the quality of life and happiness of each Hungarian generation has depended on how we navigate the boat of Hungary amidst the swelling waves caused by the empires around us.

He recalled that his grandparents' generation had been down on their luck. They had not one but two epochal changes: World War I and the loss of country, and World War II and communism.

"When I was young, I thought that we Hungarians had lost the 20th century, but that we would win the 21st. […] When I thought about my own life, I envisaged it in such a way that I was born into a losing country, but would die in a winning one. I thought that we would make Hungary great," he recalled.

He stressed that he was not talking about a war victory, "we don't want war, we don't want to lose a single Hungarian life.'

He added that victory in peacetime meant something different for every nation. If you were born Hungarian, victory is when you are able to change the fate intended for you by others, he indicated.

"In the 20th century, our enemies of the day intended for us the fate of being small and poor. Forever. Until the end of time. Our generation decided that this would not be so in the 21st century. Now, it will be the way we want it to be. We want Hungary and us Hungarians to be great and rich. We will simply make Hungary great," Mr Orbán said.

He highlighted that every Nobel Prize, every new world-class research centre, every further Hungarian astronaut and Oscar Award, every Olympic gold medal, every Hungarian flag flying high as well as the medals won at international competitions for skilled workers are priceless achievements.

Mr Orbán said "the rib of the European Union's boat couldn't take the heavy blows and collapsed, and water is flowing in," the EU is already toppled, lying on its side, European leaders proving to be Lilliputian in the shadow of the financial crisis, migration, the war and enormous troubles, "the likes of Master Weber and his associates" have together turned the European Union into an abject failure. He likened Europe's leadership to a broken GPS which keeps replanning, but never reaches its destination.

He recalled that his generation had already accomplished a change of epoch in 1990, they had put an end to the Cold War, and had eliminated the Soviet Union without bloodshed. "We sent the communists packing without a civil war - though they climbed back through the window - and rescued Hungary from under the falling beams of communism without the loss of a single life. I thought we'd done it, we can now proceed with simple and boring governance," he added.

At the same time, he stated that 35 years after the fall of communism, the hope that a single change of epoch would be enough for a safe and happy life had dispersed; this chance has been blown by the leaders of Europe.

In this situation, Mr Orbán continued, the Hungarians need intellectual, political and personal courage. We must state loud and clear that the Hungarian migration policy is better because Hungary has remained a migrant-free country, Hungary's family support regime is better because it combines work with the births of children, and the Hungarian regime of taxation is better because those who want to work can find jobs for themselves.

He stressed: we must openly lay down in Brussels that we reject the path that Brussels is offering us because the Brussels path makes us vulnerable, curtails our sovereignty, takes us into war, forces upon us things that we do not want and seeks to tell us how to live.

"They keep battering us in Brussels in vain, even if they attack us with superior political force, we must remain brave. People in Brussels can grind their teeth as much as they like, there is no war here, and there won't be. There are no migrants here, and there won't be," he said.

He warned that if Hungary were to embark on the Brussels path, the Hungarian people's money would be sent to Ukraine, and the Brussels path also meant higher taxes for businesses, a higher income tax and the curtailment of family tax benefits.

He stated: Ukraine is not a member of the EU and will not be because that would drag Hungary into the war and would lead Hungary astray. We do not need the burnt Brussels recipes, he pointed out, stressing that "the Brussels path is a sure failure; the national path is a guarantee for Hungary's future."

We have our own fantastic plans, we have a promising prospect and a wide horizon before us, and we have in us an enormous amount of motivation and ambition to accomplish great things, he said.

He highlighted that Hungary had Europe's most attractive housing programme, we had launched the continent's largest tax cuts, a number of benefits were being made tax-free, and mothers with minimum two children were not required to pay personal income tax for life.

There is also a fantastic country-building plan for Hungary for the next ten years on the table, and meanwhile, we are protecting our borders; rather than acting craftily, we openly state that we want a migrant-free Hungary, Mr Orbán laid down, observing that the supporters in Hungary of the EU headquarters have already been organised into action, and they are standing by, ready to execute Brussels' instructions.

He said in the next elections, the people will have to choose between the Brussels and the Hungarian paths, and then they will also need personal courage. The supporters of the Brussels path have already settled in the digital space, they have occupied it and monopolised it, they have organised themselves and have turned it into their own image, intimidating those who disagree with them.

Hence the flood of aggression, violence and brutality, hence the carrying of guns at rallies, hence the smear campaigns against national and Christian artists, the national media, national parties and our leaders, he observed.

He added that this could only be changed if patriotic Hungarians fought for their well-deserved place in the digital world, and showed themselves, "if they attack us, we take a step forward, not backward."

With this, we have broken the monopoly of the hatred-building globalist network, the digital vulnerability of well-meaning, patriotic Hungarians is finished once and for all.

In conclusion, he asked the attendees to never forget that "we continue to believe in the power of love and unity, and serve a true cause. In crucial things, unity; in important things, freedom; in all things, love," he said.

We are great, we are many, we are strong, we will win and will make Hungary great if you, too, want that, he said.

"The Lord above us all, Hungary before everything. Come on Hungary, come on Hungarians!" the Prime Minister said, concluding his speech.
