On 11 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a reception commemorating the National Day of the Russian Federation at the Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel. H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to further strengthening its diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation. He said that the upcoming 9th Session of the Joint Thai - Russian Commission, to be held in Moscow in August this year, will serve as a key platform to expand bilateral cooperation. He also informed that he will attend the ASEAN - Russia Summit, to be held on 17 - 18 June 2026 in Kazan, the Russian Federation, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of ASEAN - Russia relations. He will take this opportunity to meet with H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.

The Prime Minister underscored that 2027 is an excellent year for both countries to organise activities to further strengthen bilateral relations, including exchanges of high-level visits, as Thailand and the Russian Federation will celebrate the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
