Cattle placements tumble
Iowa's cattle inventory was 5% below this time a year ago, according to the USDA.
The U.S. cattle herd totaled 11.1 million head on Sept. 1 in feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported last week.
This count was 1% below the Sept. 1, 2024, estimate.
