NDDOT seeks comments on 2026 STIP amendment

BISMARCK, N.D. - The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking comments on an amendment to the 2026-2029 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to add previously unpublished projects in 2026.

  • Widen and overlay North Dakota Highway 31 from Interstate 94 to Hannover with the total project cost of $21,301,000
  • Perform full depth reclamation and overlay North Dakota Highway 49 from South Dakota state line to New Leipzig with a total project cost of $18,550,000
  • Install lighting at the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and North Dakota Highway 37 with the total project cost of $820,000
  • Construct a stream mitigation bank in McKenzie County with a total project cost of $2,100,000
  • Upgrade overhead signing in various locations statewide with a total project cost of $1,630,000

The public is invited to view the current STIP on the NDDOT's website at https://www.dot.nd.gov by clicking on "Construction & Planning" on the top of the page, then clicking on "Transportation Plans & Programs", then clicking on the "STIP 2026-29" link.

Comments should be sent no later than August 25, 2026, to Michael Wilz at NDDOT, 608 E. Boulevard Ave., Bismarck, ND 58505-0700, or sent via email [email protected] with "2026 Federal-Aid Projects" in the subject line.
