The Open Enrollment Period to sign up for 2026 health insurance coverage runs from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31, and health navigators are available to provide free personalized assistance to answer New Jerseyans' insurance questions.
This year, recent federal actions are bringing major changes that impact health insurance - how you apply for coverage, how much it costs and what's covered. Specially trained health navigators with the New Jersey Hospital Association are available to provide confidential and unbiased support to insurance shoppers exploring their options.
"Health insurance means access to doctors and hospitals. It's protection from big medical bills. And it's the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're covered," said NJHA President and CEO Cathy Bennett. "This year's open enrollment period brings some changes, but our health navigators' mission hasn't changed: helping you find a plan that fits your needs and your budget."
The Affordable Care Act provides this annual period to shop and sign up for health insurance for 2026 coverage. New Jersey residents use the State of New Jersey's GetCoveredNJ website at https://www.nj.gov/getcoverednj/ to review and select their plans from a wide array of options.
During the Open Enrollment Period now through Jan. 31, 2026, NJHA's navigators provide in-person assistance at libraries, food pantries and other community locations; see the full calendar of dates and locations at https://www.njha.com/COVERNJ/calendar. NJHA's navigators also are available virtually. To connect with them:
Insurance shoppers are encouraged to bring the following paperwork to assist in the enrollment process: Social Security numbers and birth dates for all household members; tax returns or pay stubs; and immigration documents, if needed.
