Kean Secures $500,000 for Phillipsburg Police Technology Equipment
(August 13, 2026) PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - On Tuesday, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) met with the Phillipsburg Police Department to gain insight into the critical need for updating the Department's investigative, surveillance, and information technology capabilities. Congressman Kean secured $500,000 for the Phillipsburg Police Department through Community Project Funding.
"I am proud to have secured this federal funding through the Community Project Funding process to strengthen the Phillipsburg Police Department's work to protect our communities," said Congressman Kean. "Supporting our law enforcement officers and ensuring they have the resources necessary to keep residents safe remains one of my top priorities."
"We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Tom Kean and his office for securing this $500,000 technology grant for the Phillipsburg Police Department," saidPolice Chief James McDonald. "This investment will allow us to significantly enhance and expand our camera systems, automatic license plate readers, drone program, and training technology. These tools are force multipliers that will help our officers prevent and solve crimes more effectively, improve situational awareness, and provide an even higher level of service to our community."
Chief McDonald continued, "Most importantly, this funding allows us to make these critical public safety investments without placing the financial burden entirely on our local taxpayers. We appreciate Congressman Kean's continued support of law enforcement and his commitment to keeping the residents of Phillipsburg and Warren County safe."

"The $500,000 grant for the Phillipsburg Police Department will allow the department to secure much needed technology upgrades to their communications equipment," said New Jersey Assemblyman Erik Peterson.
Since taking office, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. has secured nearly $22 million for law enforcement across New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District through the Community Project Funding process, demonstrating a consistent, tangible commitment to backing the blue with real resources. Kean remains steadfast in ensuring local law enforcement officers receive the support and equipment necessary to keep our communities safe.
