Ahead of Miami-Dade County's first FIFA 2026 World Cup match, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava unveiled a series of new beautification projects and passenger experience upgrades at Miami International Airport during a nighttime ceremony on June 12. The event showcased MIA's first-ever up-lighting installations, facility improvements across key terminal areas, large-scale baggage claim murals created in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), and a refreshed MIA brand identity.
Community partners joined Mayor Levine Cava for the ceremony, which concluded with the debut of MIA's updated logo - a collaborative effort between MIA, the GMCVB, and the County's Communications, Information, and Technology Department symbolizing the airport's renewed commitment to exceptional customer service.
MIA's dazzling lighting displays now join our overall glow-up of major buildings across Miami-Dade County for the World Cup! From vibrant lighting installations and immersive cultural experiences to innovative technology, thoughtful design, and a refreshed MIA brand identity featuring a modernized logo, we are transforming MIA into a space that reflects Miami's global identity as a dynamic, welcoming, and unforgettable destination. These enhancements are the result of an extraordinary collaboration between our Forward Flight partners and the dedicated MIA team, whose creativity, passion, and pride have helped elevate the passenger experience at every turn. We are grateful for their efforts in making MIA more beautiful, memorable, and ready to welcome the world.
These enhancements are among the latest Forward Flight-inspired improvements at MIA as the airport prepares for the FIFA 2026 World Cup and beyond. The Forward Flight Team - an advisory group of local industry experts convened by the Mayor in January - continues to help streamline airport operations and elevate the overall passenger experience.
